Connect Zirko to ChatGPT

Tell ChatGPT what needs doing: it looks things up in Zirko and creates drafts; it issues, sends, sends reminders or cancels only after you say yes.

Zirko itself uses no AI. You choose your assistant and pay for it with its provider.

How to connect ChatGPT

Once set up, it works until you disconnect it.

  1. An admin allows it

It is off by default. An Office – Admin turns on the “Allow AI assistants” switch in the settings under “AI assistants”.

  2. Turn on developer mode

In ChatGPT, connections of your own such as Zirko run through developer mode — that is simply what OpenAI calls the setting; you do not need to do any programming. In Business, according to OpenAI, only an admin or Owner turns it on; they also create the app and make it available for your workspace. In Enterprise and Edu an admin makes developer mode available, and you turn it on in your settings under Apps.

  3. Add Zirko as an app

In developer mode you create Zirko as an app of your own — in Business, the admin does this. For sign-in, choose OAuth: with it, you sign in to Zirko yourself later on, and ChatGPT never gets to see your password. As the address, enter this one:

    https://app.zirko.io/api/mcp
  4. You give your consent

You sign in to Zirko, see what it may do and what it never does, and tap “Connect”. From then on it works with your permissions.

According to OpenAI, letting ChatGPT create things in Zirko, not just look them up, is currently a test version (beta) in Business, Enterprise and Edu — only in the browser, not in the ChatGPT app on your phone. In Pro, ChatGPT can only look things up; for Plus, Go and the free plan, OpenAI does not say. On one of those plans? Claude allows it on every plan. As of 10/11/2026.

The “AI assistants” setting: the “Allow AI assistants” switch is on, below it what an assistant may do and what never, and the address for your assistant to copy.

What you can say to ChatGPT

It has exactly your permissions and those of your package: whatever you may not see or do in Zirko, it does not see or do either.

  • Which invoices are open, and how much is that in total?
  • What was the revenue last month?
  • Create a quote for Smith.
  • Book two hours on the plumbing job for me today.
  • Tell me first what’s on the invoice.
  • Send Smith the invoice.
