The measurement chain stays, the result becomes the quantity
Instead of a finished number, the line item holds the calculation it came from. Anyone asking a year later how the 47.3 came about reads it right there.

How it looks
Calculating without leaving the document
A measurement row holds a chain such as 100+(5.1*4)/2. Zirko evaluates it with its own arithmetic — no detour through a spreadsheet, and expressly no evaluation of foreign code. Up to five hundred rows per line item are summed into the quantity, to three decimal places. What the browser shows as you type, the server recalculates when it saves: a quantity sent by the device is not taken over.

Errors that point at the spot
A chain that does not work out gets no error message but a position: which character, which bracket, which row. Every case is named separately, from the unclosed bracket to division by zero — and the limits are reasoned rather than surprising.
From the report into the line item
The chain written into the site report moves unchanged into the invoice line, origin marker included. Nobody measures twice and nobody types twice.
Arithmetic, not a spreadsheet
The chain knows numbers and the four basic operations with brackets — no named variables, no references to other rows, no functions. That is intended: what stands in an invoice has to be verifiable by any inspector without a manual. We do not import measurement files in REB or DA11 format, and a laser distance meter cannot be connected.
